Evans high school head football coach Barrett Davis stepped down after the launching of an investigation into his ‘inappropriate relationship’ with a former Evans High student, the Columbia County School District announced Thursday.
“Barrett Davis, a teacher and coach at Evans High School, is no longer employed by the Columbia County School District,” the statement explained. “Please know that in any situation concerning allegations of inappropriate behavior by a staff member, not only will we investigate fully, we will also use every resource available to pursue prosecution in order to keep inappropriate behavior out of classrooms and schools.”
Davis took over the Evans program in 2021 and led the Knights to a 9-3 record in 2021, 4-7 records in 2022 and 2023 and a 5-5 record last season.
