Grace Lee leads Lambert girls to sixth-straight title; GHSA Golf Championship results

Lambert’s Grace Lee shot -9 through two rounds to help lead the Longhorns to the program’s sixth-straight title and secure the Class 6A girls low medalist title as the GHSA golf season closed Tuesday.

Cherokee’s boys shot +9 to win the program’s first-ever title in a tiebreaker against second-placed Carrollton (+9) and Lowndes (+15). Ledger Conley from Richmond Hill shot -5 to win the individual title.

In Class 5A, Creekview’s boys shot a team-total of -8 to win the program’s first title and place ahead of Milton (-2) and Class 6A defending-champion Lakeside-Evans (+11). Milton’s William Long shot -9 to win the individual title. On the girls side, Johns Creek won its fourth title while defending last year’s championship with a score of +33. Aanya Vantipalli shot +4 to win the individual championship.

Cartersville shot -4 to win the program’s seventh title but first since 2002 while beating out defending Class 4A champion North Oconee by three shots. Benedictine’s Bear Dollander shot -10 to win the individual title. North Oconee’s girls placed first with a score of +60 and St. Pius X golfer Elizabeth Sullivan shot +7 to win the individual title.

West Laurens’ boys shot +53 to win the program’s first title in the Class 3A tournament and Braceton Beasley shot +1 to lead the team. On the girls side, Jefferson’s +52 team total was good enough to win the team’s first-ever title and Cherokee Bluff’s Alisa Pressley won the low medalist with a score of +7.

Columbus’ boys shot +11 to secure the program’s 14th title and Brooks Urquhart shot -7 to lead the way in the 2A tournament. Columbus previously won titles in 1945, 1946, 1947, 1948, 1955, 1958, 1967, 1972, 2010, 2011, 2016, 2017 and 2018. Pierce County’s girls shot +34 to win the team’s seventh title and MacKenzie Connell led with a +8 score to take the low medalist honors.

Elbert County’s (+73) three-shot victory over Bremen (+76) secure the team’s second championship and first since 1966 in the Class A-Division I tournament. Swainsboro’s Colten Lewis shot -1 to win the individual title. On the girls side, Gordon Lee won the team’s third title with a score of +56. Georgia Womack of Model shot +15 to win the individual title.

Lake Oconee Academy swept the Class A-Division II tournaments with the boys shooting -6 and the girls tallying a score of +11. Luke Hylton (Brooks County) scored -9 to win the boys championship while Lake Oconee’s Lili Nelson shot -1 to win the girls title.

In Class 1A-3A Private, Darlington’s boys shot +26 to win the team’s eighth championship and first since 1994. Evan Rogers from Hebron shot -8 to win the boys individual title for the second-straight season. On the girls side, Holy Innocents’ shot +11 to win the team’s second title (2021). Prince Avenue’s Claire Bradford won the girls individual title with a score of -6.
