Kell LB Brayden Rouse commits to Tennessee

Brayden Rouse made his choice of school yesterday as he committed to the Tennessee Volunteers after taking an official visit to Knoxville on June 20th. The 4-Star linebacker chose the Vols over Alabama, Texas, and Michigan.

Rouse had a substantial junior season with the Longhorns that saw him total 111 overall tackles and 15 tackles for loss. He also racked up three and a half sacks for Kell. In terms of pass rush, Rouse is able to bulldoze his way past two opposing offensive linemen and get a quick sack on the quarterback, which his speed plays a large role in. His speed also is beneficial on running plays as he can get towards the opposite sideline quickly to shut down outside zone, sweep, and counter runs. Rouse makes life difficult for opposing offensive guards.

Regarding why he chose Tennessee, he goes into depth on how important building connections with the coaching staff is.

“The biggest thing for me was relationships,” Rouse said. “I feel like they had a leg up on some other schools just because they’ve been recruiting me for so long. They have just been super consistent with recruiting me, and over time we’ve had the ability to get those great relationships installed. I felt very comfortable with those people and they’re definitely looking to develop me as a football player and also a man.”

He spoke highly about how the coaches and staff at the Volunteer football program treat everyone so well.

“I’m excited to see how they develop me as a football player and also as a man as well,” he said. “Everybody in that facility and on that staff they’re great people, just top to bottom.”

Rouse looks forward to stepping back onto the field with his Longhorn teammates as they look to improve on last year’s 7-5 record that resulted in 42-35 loss to Creekside in the second-round of the playoffs.

“I’m super excited. I’m trying to win a state championship with these guys, just keep them motivated every day and be the leader that I can be, so when I transition to college I can be a leader within my group and my class, and potentially be the leader for the team,” he said.

You can catch Rouse and the Longhorns’ season opener in the Corky Kell + Dave Hunter Classic on August 13th against South Paulding on the Peachtree Sports Network. Kickoff for that game is scheduled for 8 PM at Kell High School.
