“Morehouse was the right fit for me because of how much love Coach Dixon showed me! He truly believes in me. It being a prestigious program also makes it very appealing.  They are allowing me to continue to pursue my newfound success in track and field, so I’ll be able to participate in both sports.

“My relationship with the coaching staff is fresh. Coach Dixon was just announced as the head coach, not even a month ago, and he felt like I was someone worthy of adding to the new roster. Even though our relationship is new, I have nothing but positive things to say about me and Coach Dixon’s relationship. The recruitment process was very stressful. It was filled with uncertainty, but I stayed grounded in my faith and knew God would guide me to the right place.”

On the hardwood, he was a problem this year and led his team in scoring, averaging 20.2 points per game. He also averaged 5.4 rebounds, 1.9 assists, and 1.4 steals per game. Pollock averaged a career-high in points, rebounds, and steals this past season and led Landmark Christian to a 14-10 record. He was named a Region 5-2A first-team all-region selection. His leadership was a big reason behind a successful season for the Eagles.

“Being regarded as the best player at Landmark this year, I had to pull a lot of weight. Not only did my team depend on me to put the ball in the basket, they needed me to lead,” said Pollock. “It was tough at times, but it helped me grow in a lot of ways. My teammate Riley Saunders was also a big help for me this year. His passing abilities, paired with my knack for scoring, were a great combination.

As he alluded to earlier, Pollock is not just a basketball player but an all-around athlete. Pollock set a New 800M record school record for Landmark Christian during the track season with a 1:52.56 time. He also won state in the 800M event in A-3A Private and anchored the 4X800 relay team that finished with a 1:52 split. The incredible part of that story is that he only began running track less than a year ago. He took advantage and set records and is now a state champion in two events.

“I’ve always been an extreme competitor, growing up with my 3 brothers. I’ve also always had great endurance, but I was able to dominate the track off of sheer willpower, to be completely honest,” said Pollock. “I’ve done so many hard workouts since a kid, so maybe that helped, but there’s not really anything specific to point towards. A lot of it is really God-given ability.”

He will now stay close to home and suit up for the Morehouse Maroon Tigers at the next level, where he will once again be a multisport athlete. When asked about his legacy and how he wants to be remembered, he had this to say.

“I want to be remembered as the one who didn’t quit. Someone who worked their tail off every day and stuck with it. He weathered every storm and stayed true to himself,” said Pollock.
