North Gwinnett 2027 QB Elam Rahman looks to have a breakout junior season

Elam Rahman and the North Gwinnett Bulldogs repeated as champions of the Brent Key/Corky Kell + Dave Hunter Classic 7-on-7 yesterday as they dominated their way through pool play and the single elimination bracket before beating Langston Hughes 27-23 in the championship game.

Rahman spent last season as the backup to senior quarterback Ryan Hall, but saw some action for the Bulldogs in a season where they went 12-1 overall and 7-0 in Region 7-6A before falling to Buford 43-7 in the quarterfinal round of the playoffs. He threw for 73 yards on 10 passes, and added a touchdown pass to his sophomore season stats.

Yesterday he was testing the deep ball a ton with his receivers and it worked out in a lot of moments. Along with his cannon of an arm is his solid mobility as he rushed for a touchdown last season to go along with 51 rushing yards on eight carries.

Rahman knows how important winning the 7-on-7 tournament is to show how much hard work and dedication he and his teammates have put in over the offseason.

“It feels good”, he said. “It’s just a testament to how hard we’re working offseason, all the winter workouts, spring, summer, it all comes into play and we play as one”.

He feels confident that he and his teammates can build off the momentum from last year’s quarterfinal appearance and put their name out there as a top team in the state of Georgia.

“I’m excited”, Rahman said. “I feel like we’re gonna shock a lot of people this year. We’re losing a lot of big pieces but I think we got a lot of good people to step up”.

Rahman and the Bulldogs will kick off their season against Douglas County in the Corky Kell + Dave Hunter Classic at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on August 16. The game will be televised on the Peachtree Sports Network and Atlanta News First.
