Brookwood pair announce commitments

A pair of Brookwood football stars — Bryce Green and Zayden Walters — announced where they will spend their college years. Green and Walters both had plenty of options and will be big contributors to Brookwood this season.

Green recently transferred from Peachtree Ridge to play his senior season at the Gwinnett County powerhouse. However, after his high school career he will be taking the drive to Tennessee to play for East Tennessee State.

Green held offers from the likes of Georgia State, Austin Peary, and Eastern Kentucky, but Eastern Tennessee State was able to attract his talents.

“What I liked most about ETSU was the love and honesty I received from them. I built solid relationships with the coaches and the players and I just felt a connection during my time there,” he said.

Last season he tailed 547 yards and five touchdowns.

He is looking to help Brookwood back to 6A dominance in his senior season.

“I want to score in all 3 phases this year: rushing, receiving, and returning. I want to have over 1500 all purpose yards and 15 touchdowns.”

He joins rising junior running back Brayden Tyson in the backfield. He is one of the best running backs in Georgia High School history. Last season, he rushed for over 2000 yards and 20 touchdowns as just a sophomore and Green thinks the pair could do great things together in 2025.

“We’re the best duo in the state,” Green said. “We compete all the time in practice but that pushes us to be great and we always want to see each other win.”

Brookwood will have its work cut out for them in its first game of the season as the Broncos travel to Mercedes-Benz Stadium to face off with Houston County in the Corky Kell + Dave Hunter Classic which will be broadcast live on Atlanta News First on August 16th at 1:00 P.M.

Walters, a 3-star lineman  committed to Western Kentucky last week. The 6-foot-4, 320-pounds offensive and defensive lineman  had offers to play on both sides of the ball. Ultimately, Walters went with the defensive side of things to play at Western Kentucky.

Western Kentucky was the spot for Walters over nearly 30 other offers. Walters enjoyed many things that Western Kentucky had to offer.

“I had a great relationship with the coach, I loved the campus and the facilities. They have the program going in the right direction.”

Western Kentucky went 8-6 last season and lost in its Conference Championship game.

Walters will join a defensive unit that is coached by coach James (defensive line coach). He provided another key factor in getting Walters to commit.

“We have a good relationship, and I have faith that he will develop me and give me the tools to be the best that I can be.”

Walters helped Brookwood back to the playoffs in 2024 and will look to do the same in 2025.
