Gregory “Pops” Duncan is one of the hottest names in the summer circuit and has continued to impress in front of a bevvy of college basketball coaches who came to Lakepoint Sports Complex to watch him play in the GBCA Live Period in June. Duncan didn’t disappoint and showcased his talent for what he could do.
Since his stellar showing, He has picked up offers from St. Louis, UAB, Auburn, Arkansas State, Jacksonville State, Colorado State, and Stetson in the month of June alone. While Duncan doesn’t have a ranking yet on the major recruiting services, it feels like it is just a matter of time until he has a ranking.
Duncan was also explosive during the spring on the 3SSB circuit during the spring and put the nation on notice on one of the top basketball circuits in the country for the Atlanta Celtics. He averaged 21.9 PPG, 3.5 APG, and shot 51.6% from the field and 46.0% from three-point range.
When you watch him play, you see that his ability to create offense for himself and the ability to catch fire in stretches during games. A good example is in Session 1 against Newton. In the first half, he was finding his rhythm and getting his teammates involved. Then in the second half, he took over, and he hit a game-winning shot against the Rams to lead the Cougars to a victory. Here is another look at his game-winning layup to lift the Cougars over the Rams. The game was a microcosm of what Duncan can bring to the next level, and he doesn’t have to be effective with the ball in his hands all the time. He can also play defense and create turnovers that lead to easy transition buckets on the other end.
2026 G Pops Dunson comes through with the game-winning basket for Alexander against Newton.

He helped lead Alexander to an 8-0 record during the GBCA Live Period over the past two weeks. He had another big performance against Zephyrhills Christian (FL), finishing with 15 points and knocking down shots from three-point range. He was the leading scorer for Alexander throughout their GBCA Live period tournament that saw the Cougars play some of the best in the Southeast and in the peach state.
It’s no surprise to see Duncan continue to play at a high level. He averaged 31.3 points and six assists per game during Alexander’s run to the quarterfinals in the GHSA playoffs. Throughout the regular season, Duncan was a go-to option for the Cougars and a leading scorer. He plays his best on the big stage, and scouts and coaches are beginning to take notice of his talent. In terms of what is coming up next, potentially for Duncan, this weekend is Ryze Hoops Battle of Georgia, an event he could participate in for the upcoming Fourth of July weekend. The following weekend will be a 3SSB event in Rock Hill, South Carolina, a huge tournament on the circuit. Duncan ran with the Atlanta Celtics earlier in the spring who plays on the 3SSB circuit, and he could be at the event and suit up for more college coaches. With offers steadily rolling in, it won’t be long until Duncan is considered a top prospect in the state of Georgia for the 2026 class.
