While we are still months away before we get back on the hardwood for some Georgia high school basketball, there have been plenty of guys that have continued to work on their game as the summer has gone on.
Southwest Macon guard Chase Dupree has been on an absolute tear this summer, fresh off of leading the Southwest Macon Patriots to a state championship appearance where they were defeated by B.E.S.T Academy 62-56.
Dupree was a major part of the Patriots success from a year ago as he led the team to a 27-3 record, with only two regular season losses to Dublin and Bleckley County.
Before the state championship game, the Patriots held a 13-game win-streak extending to the postseason which included a thrilling three overtime Region 2-ADI regional final game that saw Southwest Macon come out on top with a 79-76 victory.
Last season for the Patriots in his third season on the varsity roster, Dupree was a scoring machine, averaging 20 points per game on 45% shooting from the field while amassing 599 total points a year ago. Along with leading the team in points per game, Dupree averaged just over six rebounds, almost four assists and two steals per contest.
Dupree has continued to improve with every opportunity he gets as he averaged around nine points as a freshman, 14 as a sophomore and is now coming off his junior season where he led the team in scoring.
The guard has been on a tear this summer for the Warner Robins All-Stars where he has continued to score in bunches in travel ball.
This week at Elite 32 Atlanta, Dupree recorded 30 points, six rebounds, three assists and four steals and has continued to perform for his team throughout the offseason.
Dupree is a bigger guard at 6-foot-3 who can get downhill with ease, beating defenders off the dribble and getting into the lane with ease.
Dupree and the Southwest Macon Patriots will be back in the fold in Class ADI as one of the top teams in the classification heading into the 2025-26 season.
