Douglas County 2028 DB Zaydrean Jackson receives first D1 offer from Georgia State

Douglas County has a litany of talent as they enter the 2025 season. Often overlooked are some of the young guys coming through the ranks for the Tigers. With the season around the corner, let’s take a look at a young defensive back who is beginning to generate some buzz. Douglas County defensive back Zaydrean Jackson picked up his first D1 offer from an in-state program in the Georgia State Panthers.

“I actually got the news from my head coach,” said Jackson. “He told me while we were at morning practices that he got a call the night before from Glenn Ford and that they would like to offer me. I’m being recruited as a CB.”

With the turn of the year, the 2028 class will consist of sophomores. Jackson is already on the radar for colleges with his technique and just how sound he is on defense. He reflected on the importance of his first offer.

“It means everything to me,” said Jackson. “I am one of the youngest guys on defense for my team (only 15 years old), and we are loaded at DC. Just to be recognized and acknowledged as a valuable player this early is an honor. This offer feels like validation, too. I’ve been working on my craft seriously since I was eight, and it feels like with this first offer, everything is coming together. Especially to get one from Georgia State, which has a great program and staff.”

Jackson has been behind standout defensive backs like Aaron Gregory and KJ Green, while Jackson played primarily on JV and got some snaps on varsity. He is looking forward to having a bigger impact as a 6A state title contender. At this stage of his career, he can play multiple positions, which makes him versatile and should be able to make an impact during his sophomore campaign.

“I think I stand out because I have good technique/footwork, and I play a lot bigger than what I am right now. I am also a versatile player. I can play CB, safety or nickel. I play with intensity and I’m not afraid to come down to make big hits or go up with larger receivers,” said Jackson.

With that intensity and force that Jackson plays with, it should resonate well with the coaching staff for Douglas County. The Tigers pride themselves on being a physical hard-hitting defense and Jackson embodies that. With his hunger and his desire to be great, it should bode well for him in 2025 while finding the field more with the Tigers. If he is able to do that, he can see more offers roll in during the spring.
